440-3 (C) Douglas K. Heller
Here is another Kenwood TS-440 control program.
The program is pretty much straight forward, but I will
explain how it works in these docs.
You can copy the files from this disk to you hard drive
with the normal DOS command COPY *.* Next type 440 <enter>.
The program will ask which com port 1 or 2. Com 3 or 4 are
not supported. The program will try to get a code from the
rig, and if successful, you will be told that you are
either using a TS-440 or a R-5000. If the proper code is not
received. the program will tell you so and PRESS ANY KEY to Terminate
the program. If the program terminates, check your interface
and cabling.
If all has worked OK, you should be in the main menu. Choose
ALT D to display most of the functions of the TS-440. As
you can see at the bottom of the screen there are a few function
keys that you can do some controlling of the TS-440 like input
a frequency, mode. Turn the SPLIT on and off.
When you rotate your VFO, you will notice that nothing
seems to happen on the display until you stop. This is
because the TS-440 output is rather erratic. Use ALT X to
Exit to the main menu.
Again from the main menu, Choose <ALT M>, This will read
all the memories in the Radio. After the program has read
all the memories, it will display 0 to 44. Use the <Down Arrow>
key to display memories 45 to 89, or use the <Up Arrow>
to display the Split Memories 90 to 99 usually used for
10 meter FM repeater use.
After paging though the memories you can save the contents
of the memories to disk by hitting <ALT S> key. After
saving the memories to disk use the <ALT X> to get back
to the main menu.
You can use the final feature of this program to restore any
or all the memories to the TS-440 in the unlikely event
you reset the micro processor in the TS-440 or you loose
the contents of the memories and provides a short cut
to re programming the memories back into the TS-440.
You must have the file DKH440.MEM on the same disk or
in the same directory as this program. You must have saved the
contents of the memories to disk before you use this feature.
Oh yes, to exit the program from the main menu type a
<ALT X> and you will go back to dos.
One final thing, If you like this program and make use of it,
I would appreciate it if you would send me 10 bucks or so.
If you don't, that's fine, enjoy the program and thanks anyway.
If you do it helps motivate me to do more and add new features
to later versions, and will be greatly appreciated!
